"When Tom was a personal trainer, not only was he my trainer but he was my go to guy for my patients that needed specific rehab or strengthening.

"I am a chiropractor and have had the opportunity to work with Thomas Wells both personally and professionally. In his work in balancing the muscles of the body, I have found the results he achieves to be extremely effective and to produce very thorough pain relief to the muscular system. This stability leads to an ease and fluidity with which the body can perform either its daily or athletic activities. I consider his work to be very synergistic with chiropractic care and highly recommend it for everyone interested in greatly enhancing their healing and maintenance regimens."

"Originally I went to Thomas for bodywork and NKT because my knees were so painful that it was difficult to do most activities and exercise felt almost impossible. It has turned out to be the best thing I could have done for my overall health. I was skeptical that therapeutic “bodywork” or “NKT” could help my knee pain. Several sessions of bodywork with Thomas improved my knees so much that I’m really comfortable with anything I do including a strenuous exercise program. I’ve always been a person who relies on traditional medicine for treatment. My doctor, however could only offer anti-inflammatory medication and rest for a problem that just didn’t get better. It’s been an amazing experience for me to have gotten so much pain relief and improved function from such a different therapeutic approach. Thomas has done bodywork with me for about 2 years now and I’ve had significant improvement in knee, shoulder and hip injuries. At the same time he’s worked on my overall posture and body alignment, and taught me exercises to help maintain or improve the outcome. He always explains what he’s doing and the outcome he expects to get. The best things about working with Thomas are that he is clearly so knowledgeable and passionate about his bodywork. He’s also an incredibly positive person. I really thought my knees couldn’t get better but he was always consistently optimistic that this approach would make a difference and it really has…. :)"

"Tom Wells, “The Body Mechanic”, is my addiction. He has made my quality of life better by improving my muscular function and is currently facilitating the rehabilitation of my knee. Tom is helping me train for the Aqua Bike portion of the Vineman Triathlon by ensuring my muscles function correctly and with maximum efficiency.Tom, whom I refer to as “Dr. Tom,” and my chiropractor are two of the most important men in my life. My chiropractor, Dr. Brian (“Dr. Brian”) Thalhamer, referred me to Tom back in 2007.
I was in my final year of law school and working full time as a police officer. I had very little time to relax between working, studying and going to class. My break was running for a few hours in the mid afternoon (anywhere from 8 to 13.1 miles depending on the day). I had never been a runner, but it was a challenge and I set a goal of running 13.1 miles so I could participate in the ½ Vineman. I knew I could do the swim and bike; I just had a mental block on the run. Before too long the running took a toll on my body to the point I could not lay down comfortably and relax my right leg, letting it fall to the outside.I went to Dr. Thalhamer who aligned me and promptly referred me to Tom. Dr. Thalhamer explained how Tom “reactivated muscles” and ensured that the right muscles were operating correctly. Dr. Thalhamer was certain Tom could help me. Dr. Brian was right.
I made my appointment, arrived and was treated by Tom. It was amazing. It is hard to describe what he does, but basically Tom determines what muscles are working properly, which muscles are compensating for others and which muscles have “checked out” completely. Tom does this by performing simple strength tests and listening to what you describe. Tom methodically checks each muscle. After determining what is going on, Tom stimulates the muscle to get it to reengage and makes it come alive. In our 50-minute visit, Tom had determined that my hip flexor and adductor muscles were tight and not engaging when it was time to be used. He then worked on the muscles that were compensating for the checked out muscles and were essentially “shutting” them off and not allowing them to work. Tom then gave me “homework” to do, providing me with a series of exercises to do. Tom explained and demonstrated each exercise and even provided me with diagrams to take home. The exercises are used to ingrain the muscle with memory to keep it engaging as it should. Homework, if assigned, is very important and should be followed to receive maximum benefit. After leaving Tom’s office I went home and did the exercises as instructed. Within a day my leg was significantly better and after a week I had no further symptoms. I still do the exercises Tom gave me to this day and have not suffered a recurrence.
I did not see Tom again until December of 2008. I had a major surgery on my left knee and was trying to rehab my quadriceps and the stabilizer muscles around my knee. For the first six months after my surgery I was only permitted to ride the stationary bike with no resistance and graduating up to more resistance over time. After I was able to cycle with more and more resistance I determined that my left leg muscles were not engaging. The recovery for my injury is a one-year minimum and I was at the 9-month mark. During the last nine months I was unable to walk for two months and used crutches for another six weeks. The right side of my body was doing all the work and the left side had shut down. It had not had to work for so long, it no longer engaged when I wanted it to. I knew it wasn’t right and because I had learned so much from Tom in 2007, I called him again. I have seen Tom seven times since December 2008. Tom again worked his magic and my left quad is now firing and working like it is supposed to. Because my body had been out of whack for so long I had lots of issues with muscles compensating for other muscles. As I mentioned before, I am training for the Vineman. I can only do the Aqua Bike Competition (the swim 2.4 miles and bike 112 miles). The swimming and biking helps strengthen my knee and running long distances again will not be in my future.
Tom doesn’t just focus on just my knee; he has reengaged my entire body. As a result of Tom’s treatments and knowledge, my shoulders have “unlocked”. As a result, my swim stroke is more fluid and efficient. I have been a life-long swimmer and can noticeably tell the difference when my muscles are working correctly and efficiently.I now swim much faster, expending less energy. My times have improved, my shoulders don’t spasm, nor do the muscles in my lats. And, now that I am engaging the muscles in my left quad again, I can actually feel the workout in my left leg is getting during my swims, cycling and weight workouts. I now perform more weight workouts specifically targeted for my quadriceps, so I can really work them and stabilize my knee.
The bottom line is I’m feeling the good burn all over, evenly distributed, in all the right places. Even my cycling has taking off. I can feel the burn in my left leg and can go much further at a higher cadence than before.During my treatments Tom has found and corrected my out of place biceps tendon that led to under development of my right biceps and pectoral muscle. After Tom corrected that issue I could feel the difference in my biceps workout the very next day! My right arm did not give out like it used to. I could fully flex the muscle to a peak that I had been unable to do for at least nine years. My pectoral muscles now engage evenly too!Yeah! I can go on and on about Tom. The most exciting thing is how I feel since he has treated me. When I am working out everything in my body is running so much smoother now. And, when I am not working out and just enjoying my life, gone are the painful muscle spasms, my back muscles are more relaxed and not balled up, my left leg is healing and becoming more stable everyday and my right leg is no longer bearing the burden of all my weight. More importantly, the more my muscles develop around my knee the quicker I get to go back to work full duty! Without those muscles engaging, all the time I spent on the bike rehabbing my leg prior to seeing Tom, was doing no good at all. Now my leg is filling out, the muscle tone is returning and I am getting stronger.
As I continue to push toward my goal of returning to full duty I have stepped up the intensity of my rehabilitation. The exercises are more demanding on my left knee joint and I depend on Tom to keep those muscles engaging properly for maximum benefit. I trust Tom’s knowledge of the body and am continually amazed how quickly my body responds to his treatments. I literally can feel my body respond by the next day.Sometimes the effect of the treatment is immediate, as in before I leave the office. Tom has also educated me on my own body.I know when something is not engaging properly and can feel the difference in my body and performance.
Tom’s treatments keep my muscles healthy and on track as I proceed with my rehabilitation and training. Tom is the whole package, a literal body mechanic, a trainer and an athlete. He knows what he is doing and utilizes a multitude of techniques. If you want to perform better and feel better, call Tom Wells. I trust Dr. Tom and so should you."Lisa G.

Why live with pain, have potentially unnecessary surgeries or undergo treatments that don't address the source of the problem? Working with Thomas, I have experienced immediate and direct relief from trouble spots in my musculoskeletal system I thought I just had to live with forever. Thomas is a genius at tracking down the root of the problem and taking measures to correct it. Others have succeeded only in treating compensatory issues that arose due to underlying problems. His treatments have played a vital role in my path to regaining full function.
